Farhan Akhtar marked a special moment in Indian movies by releasing a motion poster for Lakshya, celebrating 21 years since its debut. This 2004 war drama has grown into a fan favorite over time. On social media, Farhan shared the poster with the message, "Celebrating 21 years of a story about finding purpose, one step at a time. #21YearsOfLakshya." It’s a tribute to the film’s lasting legacy and its powerful themes of self-discovery and national duty.

Lakshya stars Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, and Amitabh Bachchan. The film tells the story of Karan Shergill, a young man from a wealthy, lazy background who finds direction after joining the Indian Army. As Karan shifts from being aimless to becoming a brave soldier, the film shows a story of growth, discipline, and sacrifice. It reflects both a personal journey and a bigger national story.

Farhan Akhtar directed the film, and Javed Akhtar, his father, wrote the script. The story was inspired by talks with soldiers from the 1999 Kargil War. That added real feeling and made it relatable, especially for those serving in the military. Although Lakshya did not do well at the box office at first, its strong story, great acting, and high-quality production earned praise from critics and fans alike.

At the 50th Filmfare Awards, Lakshya was nominated four times, including Best Director for Farhan and Best Actor for Hrithik. It picked up two awards—Best Choreography for Prabhu Deva’s work on “Main Aisa Kyun Hoon” and Best Cinematography for its stunning visuals of Delhi and the war zones.

Over the years, Lakshya has grown past its initial release and become an important movie in Indian war films. Its special 20th anniversary re-release in 2024 proved it remains meaningful and inspiring. With music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and supporting roles from Boman Irani and Om Puri, the movie continues to touch new audiences who connect with its timeless message.

From a film-making perspective, Lakshya is known for its layered storytelling. It mixes emotion with the big idea of patriotic sacrifice. As India changes, its core message—finding purpose in life—still feels very relevant.
