Konkona Sen Sharma, an actor and filmmaker, has been open about dealing with casual sexism in the film business. She emphasized in a recent interview the need to confront problematic conduct, even when it occurs in intimate settings or under the guise of humor.

According to Konkona, things have to change

In an interview with Zoom, Konkona discussed her path as an actor and director. Although she admitted to experiencing sexism, she said that it has been less severe than what many other women have experienced. She said that her prior reputation as an actor and her distinct industry experience helped pave the way for her transition to directing.

"One must be able to acknowledge that it is extremely bad and wrong, and that things must change." It's crucial to bring it up, even among friends, because we tend to normalize a lot of things, such as our vocabulary or the way we talk about others. Even if it seems boring or just a "joke," I believe you have to name it out every time. I always say it, and I would like to point it out, even if it's as a joke, and I do say it as often as I can," Konkana stated.

The Development of a Thick Skin for Konkona

Konkona admitted the harsh realities of working in a biased environment when campaigning for change.

To some degree, you still have to do what you set out to do, so you do need to acquire a bit of a thick skin. Despite the fact that other people shouldn't act in such a way and that you shouldn't have to make up for their behavior, in reality, that's how it is, and you can't let other people's bad conduct get in the way of you. Therefore, I believe it's crucial to speak out about it, particularly among our own friends and circles, and to be mindful of others.

Konkona's most recent project

The last time Konkona was seen was in Metro In Dino, which debuted in theaters on July 4 and was directed by Anurag Basu. In addition to Neena Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and Anupam Kher, the movie also stars them. With the backing of Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, the film presents a nuanced emotional portrait of contemporary relationships.
