The industrialist Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in London at the age of 53 from cardiac arrest, was married to the actress Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016. In Delhi on Sunday, a prayer meeting was conducted in Sunjay's honor, which was attended by Karisma, her sister Kareena Kapoor, and her brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan.

Earlier that day, Karisma was photographed at Mumbai airport with her and Sunjay's children, Samaira and Kiaan. Kareena and Saif were also seen with her. The family arrived in Delhi on Sunday night and was seen at the prayer gathering taking place in a well-known hotel. They were seen being guided to the prayer room by a concierge.

Additionally, a film shot inside the prayer hall depicts many other visitors paying their respects. Everyone is paying tribute to Sunjay in a massive image of him surrounded by flowers.

Sunjay Kapur's passing

While playing polo in London on June 12, Sunjay suffered a heart attack and passed away. For the last rites, his body was transported to India. His family issued a statement announcing that his cremation was held at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground on Thursday and that the prayer meeting will be held at the Taj Palace Hotel on Sunday. His mother, Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife, Priya Sachdev, and his children, Safira and Azarias, all signed the statement. The names of his kids with Karisma—Samaira and Kiaan—were also there.

In 2003, Sunjay and Karisma exchanged vows at a small wedding. In 2005 and 2011, their two children, Samaira and Kiaan, were born. They jointly sought for divorce in 2014, but they changed their minds and withdrew their petitions in 2015. The court finalized their separation in 2016 following a harsh divorce dispute. Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017, and the couple has a boy named Azarias. Prior to Karisma, Sunjay was married to designer Nandita Mahtani in 1999, however the couple divorced four years later.
