Just weeks after the tragic deaths of MF Kapil (33), a young artist connected to Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 who drowned in the Souparnika River close to Kollur, and then Comedy Khiladigalu star Rakesh Poojary (33), another life has been taken. This time, the film is associated with 33-year-old Viju VK, a junior Kerala artist.

When Viju, a mimicry artist from Thrissur, had chest pain, he was staying with the crew of Kantara Chapter 1 in Agumbe. He was taken to a hospital in Thirthahalli, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. On June 12, his family is anticipated to arrive in Thirthahalli to pick up his body.

Kantara Chapter 1's junior artists have died for the third time, all at the age of 33

From the start, Kantara Chapter 1 has had problems. First, there were issues with obtaining shooting permits in forest ranges and complaints about the use of explosives in environmentally sensitive locations. Then, a road accident occurred that injured many people who were being transported by a junior artist. Complaints about payment delays were also made. However, three fatalities at such a close interval, all of whom were 33 years old, appears somewhat strange.

The Kantara Chapter 1 crew, on the other hand, is still committed to the previously announced goal of releasing the movie in theaters on October 2, 2025. They have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to adhering to the original date, even if there have been sporadic rumors that the movie will be delayed.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is the prequel to Rishab's hugely successful 2022 movie Kantara, which propelled him to national fame and earned him the moniker Divine Star. For his role in the movie, he also received the National Award for Best Actor. There are rumors that he will reveal the origin tale of Panjurli Daiva, despite his silence on the subject of Kantara Chapter 1.
