Kannappa is one of the most-awaited films in Telugu cinema, as Vishnu Manchu has put his life and soul into the movie. He has spent big bucks on the period drama, which also features the likes of Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar in cameos. Slated for release on June 27, 2025, the makers are leaving no stone unturned, and Vishnu is leading the promotions with back-to-back interviews. 

Vishnu Manchu on Kannappa's VFX woes

Speaking to one of the noted journalists, Vishnu revealed how the budget went out of hand after a point, and he could not do much. "I wanted to make this film on a grand note and spent a lot of money on VFX. After seeing a few rushes of the film filled with graphics, we chucked the work and reworked the graphics, and in this process, I lost Rs 15 crore," says Vishnu.

The young actor is also the producer of the film, and it has been his dream project to make a film on Kannappa. He has penned the script and plays the main lead in the film. When asked about the budget, Vishnu says, "I will not reveal how much I spent on the film, but I have not compromised on any aspect of Kannappa. Every penny spent on the film will be shown on screen." 

Mukesh Kumar Singh has directed Kannappa, and Vishnu Manchu's son, his twin daughters, and his dad Mohan Babu will also be seen in the film. Prabhas has an extended role and will be seen in the second half, as per the news. 

Makers of Kannappa bank heavily on Kannappa

The makers are banking heavily on Prabhas to bring in crowds at the box office. Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva in the film, and Kajal Aggarwal will be seen as his wife. Sarath Kumar, Siva Balaji, Madhoo, and Mukesh Rishi play key roles in this film.

Kannappa has been in the making for over two years now, and Vishnu is quite confident that the film will hit the bull’s eye. That is also the reason he has not sold the OTT rights to the film and is playing the waiting game. Only after the film’s release does he plan to lock the OTT deal.
