Kangana Sharma Breaks Silence on Being Typecast in Bold Roles: “I’m Tired of It”

Actress Kangana Sharma has spoken out about being stuck in the same type of bold roles over and over again. She shared how tough it is to break free from this limited image. During a recent chat with the media, Kangana said, “I really don’t want to do bold characters, and if I do, I want them to be subtle, not loud. At least then I feel it’s worth doing.” Her words reflect how many actors wish for more meaningful roles instead of just fitting into stereotypes based on past work or their public image.
Kangana didn’t hold back when talking about how casting calls often miss the point of a role. “Yes, I’ve been stereotyped. It’s really annoying,” she admitted. “I get calls from casting directors about shows where I’m asked to do kissing, humping, and nude shots. I ask, ‘Who’s cast in this? Who’s the director? Where is it shooting? What’s the story?’ And they reply, ‘It will air on Kuku FM,’ and I think, ‘So what?’ Then they say, ‘If you say yes now, we can move ahead and lock the cast.’ And I’m thinking, ‘First, I want to say yes, then you can finalize everything.’ These are the craziest things I hear now, so I block those calls.”
Her journey in the industry shows why her frustration is justified. Kangana first got attention as a Miss Maxim finalist in 2014, which helped her start in showbiz. She made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with Great Grand Masti, then gained praise for her role as Meera Mittal in the Star Plus series Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji. Besides movies and TV, she hit big with music videos like Hardy Sandhu’s “Yaar Ni Milya” and the Tere Jism series, which earned millions of views and fans’ love.
Now, with so much streaming and online content around, Kangana is still trying new things. She’s faced personal setbacks, like a failed marriage, and bumps in her career. Still, she keeps pushing for roles that are deeper and more interesting. Her story shows she’s all about fighting for her own voice. She refuses to get stuck in shallow roles or labels. From headlines to heartbreaks, from hunger to fashion, Kangana Sharma shows that she’s all about following her dreams—staying true to herself and her goals.
