Following his victory over former world number one Magnus Carlsen in the sixth round of the current Norway Chess 2025 competition, actors Kangana Ranaut and Samantha Ruth Prabhu lauded India's World Champion chess player D Gukesh. Following Gukesh's victory on Monday, Kangana and Samantha Ruth Prabhu posted videos of Magnus' response on their Instagram Stories.

How Gukesh responded after defeating Magnus Carlsen

Magnus Carlsen lost it in the films, pounding the table hard and knocking over a few chess pieces, some of which landed on the board and some on the floor. Prior to displaying his rage, he grasped D Gukesh's hand. With a bewildered expression on his face, the Indian chess player was observed walking away. Magnus gave Gukesh a pat on the back as he prepared to leave the space.

The remarks made by Samantha and Kangana regarding Gukesh

Posting the video, Kangana wrote, "Ha ha Gukesh's reaction...congratulations @gukesh.official (clapping hands, flower bouquet emojis, and National Flag emojis)." In another video she posted to her Instagram Stories, Samantha said, "@gukesh.official Beautiful (flexed muscles emojis)."

In the current competition's Round 6, Gukesh executed a remarkable turnaround from a losing situation on Sunday and defeated the former top player in the world. With this victory, Gukesh defeated the Norwegian grandmaster for the first time ever in a classical match. The 19-year-old became just the second Indian player in the competition's history, behind Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, to defeat Magnus.

Although Magnus held the advantage for the majority of the game, the adolescent ultimately gained the upper hand and went on to win as a result of his inability to maintain composure. With this victory, D. Gukesh moved up to third place in the Norway Chess 2025 points standings with 8.5 points, just one point behind Magnus and American Fabiano Caruana.
