In a recent interview, Kamal Haasan, who is known for being outspoken, has pinpointed the cause of India's superstar culture and the reason why actors become arrogant. The performer was honest about his shortcomings, adding that greed led him to stop studying at one point.

Kamal Haasan on arrogance and fame

Because the inner circle is constantly attempting to lift them up and prevent their "feet from touching the ground," it is extremely challenging for celebrities, according to the actor, who is promoting his next film, Thug Life.

"The beauty of film is that it allows you to reach a larger audience," Kamal explained, "but it also takes you away from actually seeing your applause." You isolate yourself as a result, and because you don't hear compliments or criticism, arrogance takes over. The information is delivered through reports to us or when you interact with and are cheered by your supporters, but that is not the real data.

‘Avarice prevented me from learning’

For six decades, Kamal has been a player in the entertainment sector. He began his career as a child artist and rose to fame in Tamil cinema in the 1980s, before switching to Hindi cinema and producing crossover movies that are now referred to as pan-India. The actor is versatile as well, having mastered all aspects of filmmaking, singing, makeup, and dance. But he regrets that he might have done more. I quit looking for further gurus because of my job schedule. I believe my hunger for wealth prevented me from gaining knowledge. I would have learned more if not, he continued. "I followed that course for a long time at the risk of my heart," the seasoned actor said, noting that affluence had become his ambition in his 20s. I then established my own business after waking up. Before I turned thirty, I fortunately did that. It was a dangerous decision.

For Thug Life, Kamal Haasan is getting back together with Mani Ratnam. This is their first partnership in 37 years, which led to the legendary Naayakan the last time they worked together. In addition to Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Baburaj, Thug Life also stars them. The movie is set to premiere globally on June 5, 2025.
