Kamal Haasan is devastated

In response to the tragedy, Kamal used the social media platform formerly known as Twitter to convey his sadness, saying his "heart reaches out" to the victims' families.

"In Bangalore, a terrible tragedy occurred." In this time of sorrow, my heart goes out to the families of the victims. I am really upset. May the wounded get well soon," he said in his message.

In the midst of an ongoing dispute over his recent statements about the Kannada language, Kamal's remarks have sparked a lot of debate.

Prior to the release of his movie Thug Life, Kamal made the statement that "Kannada was born out of Tamil," for which he is receiving criticism. The movie, which was directed by Mani Ratnam, is not allowed to be released in Karnataka. His statement was recently criticized by the Karnataka High Court, which also reprimanded him for failing to offer an apology.

What do we know about the Bangalore stampede?

Following a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday night, when 11 people were killed and 47 others were hurt, the joy of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) first IPL championship became a tragedy. The event has brought up significant concerns about the police's organizational strategy and preparedness.

The RCB began their celebration by visiting the Vidhana Soudha to see Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Prior to the players arriving to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Karnataka CM congratulated the IPL 2025 champions. But as they were about to arrive at the site, word of a stampede that resulted in casualties spread.

The victory celebrations were cut short due to the stampede that took place outside RCB's home stadium in Bengaluru. Before waving the trophy in front of the sold-out audience inside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, just RCB captain Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli made speeches. Tuesday in Ahmedabad, RCB had defeated Punjab Kings to win the IPL 2025 championship.
