With Maa, which is scheduled to be released later this month, Kajol is prepared to experiment with the new genre, horror. The actress finds herself being grilled about her past blockbusters from the 1990s, which completely transformed her career, every time she goes out to promote her upcoming films. Her on-screen chemistry with Shah Rukh Khan is well known and will forever be a popular favorite in Indian film. Kajol once more dismissed the idea of returning to her two most iconic movies, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, during a recent encounter. The actor believes that the movies should be disregarded, even if they are still popular.

No follow-ups for legendary films from the 1990s.

Kajol stated that she does not like the concept of a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai sequel in which her and Shah Rukh's characters fall in love again.

She said, "People say you should make Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2 when you grow older and fall in love again with Shah Rukh Khan, and I'm like..." The reality is that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was a fantastic film because it featured a diverse cast of characters and a unique environment. There were still those who believed in that sort of love—like the everlasting, once-in-a-lifetime variety.

Altering the way love is portrayed in film

She then discussed how love is perceived by audiences and how narrative has changed. The actor stated, "It's hard to come up with a story that has the same belief pattern nowadays, because if you ask someone today, they say that if this [relationship] doesn't work out, we have ten other options standing on that track over there."

Kajol, however, is willing to experiment with new plot concepts alongside Shah Rukh Khan. When questioned about the possibility of working with him on a mature romance, she replied that she would love to see a movie like that created.

Open to fresh love stories with Shah Rukh Khan

The star, who voiced her utmost dislike, also talked about a sequel to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. "Like, I can't picture a DDLJ 2. Like what happened after the train?" Kajol continued. Nobody cares. Do you want to find out if they argued about the diapers? It's amazing that the train simply says "the end" and you know it just departed at the conclusion. You are free to use your imagination at this time. One statement: They lived happily ever after. "It's not a marriage, so it's perfect."

Despite having been in the industry for over 30 years, Kajol maintained that she has no regrets about the movies she has chosen. She confessed that she had turned down jobs in a number of movies, including ones that received high praise. The actor said, "Yes, lots of times." A prime example is 3 Idiots. Those movies belonged to them. The person who has it in their fate is the one who receives it.

Kajol's comments are in line with the growing prevalence of sequels and reboots in the profession. In her opinion, however, the irreversibility of certain events is what makes them endure.
