Kajol has been a top star in Bollywood for more than thirty years, yet she is now doing something for the first time. Maa, her upcoming release, is her debut in the horror genre. This is uncharted territory for an actor who appears to have done it all. Prior to the premiere of the movie, the performer discusses the Vishal Furia picture, her personal parenting methods, and other topics with HT.

On why she agreed to Maa

Kajol has appeared in just eight films over the past ten years, making it a significant choice for her to accept a role as a selective performer. The actress explains how she got Maa, saying, "Maa came to me as a concept note, and I loved it because I am quite a mythology buff." One of my favorite tales is that of Maa Kali and Raktabeej, although our nation has so many amazing and fantastic ones.

The trailer for the movie reveals its enormous scope and horrific grotesqueness. In the story of a mother shielding her daughter from wrongdoing, there is a moment where Kajol's character is tormented and her bones are shattered. Kajol, discussing that moment, states, "I wasn't that unsettled by it, probably because I did it." She is also quick to point out that "everyone around me had the same reaction (makes disgusted face)." 'I can't see you like this,' they remarked. "But that's what horror is, and that's why it will be particularly effective."

Regarding her children's response to her labor

Kajol discloses that her children, Nysa, 22, and Yug, 14, have seen the trailer, and she is optimistic that she can persuade them to see the movie. With her characteristic chuckle, Kajol adds, "Nysa might not. She is like me, doesn't like horror."

The actress replies, "Oh, they have always had opinions," when you ask her if her children, now older, have begun to express their views on her employment. That viewpoint has remained the same, whether for good or ill. They make it very obvious: "You should make movies like papa does. Do Golmaal! We can't see you sobbing on screen." They want me to make movies that only make them laugh, with no one crying, no glycerine, and nothing happening to me. I ponder why I am in this movie where nothing happens to me and I have nothing to do.

On parenting and other topics

Maa is the second film in which motherhood is essential to Kajol's role in recent years. In Helicopter Eela, she portrayed a domineering, helicopter parent. The performer declares, "I used to be an Eela, but not anymore; I am much calmer and cooler." The children mature and develop their own thoughts and viewpoints—Touchwood that they

When the topic of parenting styles comes up, Kajol reveals that, though the "basics are the same," she differs from her mother, experienced actress Tanuja, in their approaches to childrearing. "My mom had a much stricter style of parenting," she adds. Our version was far less organized than theirs. I resided with my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother. You weren't under the supervision of just one individual. Anyone in that house who was older than 21 was in charge of you. "I am different from them, but yes, the basics are the same. Both of them love me enough not to want to do anything drastic," says Kajol.

Ronit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta also appear in Maa, which Vishal Furia directed. The movie will be released in theaters on June 27.
