In a recent interview, Kajol discussed her childhood and how her parents, veteran actress Tanuja and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, dealt with their divorce. Kajol discusses her parents' split
Kajol discussed how her parents placed a high value on co-parenting and emotional stability in an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit. This clarity and consistency, she said, prevented her and her sister, Tanisha, from ever turning one parent against the other.
I must give them credit for that. One thing my parents made clear was that, regardless of whether we are apart or not, we will always be there for you. We will always come to a consensus on the choices we make on your behalf. They could not be pitted against one another. They acted like responsible adults who would put their children's needs first.
When asked if she understood what was going on at the moment, Kajol replied honestly and thoughtfully. "I did. I didn't understand it then, but I did wonder about it. From my adult perspective, I can see how courageous it was for them to make that choice, Kajol said.
Kajol's future endeavors
