After considerable anticipation and numerous changes throughout the planning stages, filming for Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Amazon Prime Video courtroom drama has at last begun. The project has found its headliner, replacing Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani, after two years of casting calls. The majority of the cast is now being led by Jyotika and Sonakshi Sinha, despite the fact that filming started last week at various locations in Mumbai.
Set construction and filming locations
The filming began, according to Mid Day, at Malvani, Madh Island, and Vile Parle, among other locations where courtroom interiors were replicated. Due to the original March schedule, filming could not begin until a new script draft had been completed.
A source close to the production revealed that the version featuring Kapoor and Advani was ultimately abandoned. A source close to the production said that the misalignment between their schedules and the company's creative direction resulted in the project being canceled. They also disclosed that the company shelved the original version and secured a new draft earlier this year. Sonakshi joined the team after careful analysis, testing, and reading. The creative team was impacted by the grounded intensity of her performance.
The film is being co-produced by Excel Entertainment, which is owned by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, and Baweja Studios, which is led by Harman Baweja. The name has not yet been determined by the creators.
Thematic focus and plotline
The narrative centers around a trial that examines themes of social justice and individual suffering, with the two protagonists alternately excelling. This is not your typical courtroom drama, the insider continued, adding that the script is realistic and harsh. Both female protagonists are treated equally, and the emotional history behind the legal arguments is included. Jyotika is expected to start filming in mid-June, and the insider predicts that their courtroom scenes will be the movie's high point.
Sonakshi Sinha returns to dramatic roles with her portrayal of a tenacious attorney. Jyotika may already be acquainted with the courtroom's layout. In a similar environment, she played a novice lawyer in the Tamil movie Ponmagal Vandhal (2020), which was all about a courtroom dispute.
The movie should be in principal photography by the end of the year, and it may be available on Prime Video in the next year.
