Jungkook, a member of BTS, has expressed regret for donning a hat with a contentious motto. Jungkook's black hat bore the inscription "Make Tokyo Great Again," reminiscent of US President Donald Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again." At the 2025 BTS Festa, Jungkook was seen wearing the hat. The K-pop artist stated in a post on his Weverse account that he was ignorant of the line's historical and political background.

Japanese politicians, including Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko, have reportedly employed the motto "Make Tokyo Great Again" in relation to nationalism and anti-Korean attitudes. South Korean fans, who thought the action was thoughtless and insulting, have expressed their anger at Jungkook donning a cap with the slogan.

Why Jungkook apologized after the controversy

The South Korean singer apologized for the "disappointment and inconvenience" caused to many by her headgear in a post. He told his followers that the cap was thrown away "right away."

"Before donning the phrase, I sincerely regret that I did not fully appreciate its historical and political importance." Jungkook went on to say that there was "no excuse" for his behavior and that he was fully aware of his ignorance and indifference, which had caused disappointment and pain. The singer of "Standing Next to You" pledged to behave more cautiously going forward.

Jungkook discharged from military service

Along with fellow BTS member Jimin, the vocalist recently completed his required military duty. At J-Hope's Hope on the Stage concert, Jungkook, Jin, Suga, Namjoon, Jimin, and Taehyung got back together, much to the pleasure of the ARMY. Jungkook also joined Jin and J-Hope in singing Jamais Vu. When BTS songs like MIC Drop, Baepsae, and Airplane Pt 2 were played at the event, the band members mingled with the audience.

Fans with eagle eyes noticed Jungkook's new tattoo. The photographs reveal a swallow-like tattoo protruding from beneath his white vest.
