After 'liking' an Instagram reel that asserted Madhuri Dixit received an award for her "vulgar step" in a song while Sridevi's performance in Khuda Gawah was overlooked, actress Janhvi Kapoor has caused a stir on social media.
Janhvi Kapoor enjoys a video that mocks Madhuri Dixit
A recent Instagram Reel that compared Janhvi's mother, Sridevi, to Madhuri Dixit received a "like" from Janhvi. The reel under discussion divided the screen, comparing the performances of Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit.
On one side, the words "Madhuri in Beta - Did vulgar step song and did nothing in the movie and won Filmfare Best Actress award" are superimposed over Madhuri Dixit's famous dance scene from the film Beta, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga.

On the other side, Sridevi is shown in Khuda Gawah, which was also released in 1992, where she is seen giving an emotional speech. It came with text which read, “Did double role with landmark acting that carried whole movie on her shoulder still Filmfare ignored her for Best Actress”.
Notably, both films were released around the same time in 1992 – Beta starring Madhuri Dixit hit theatres on April 3, while Sridevi's film was released on May 8.
Fans react
A On social media, particularly on Reddit, a screenshot of Janhvi's like on the reel has surfaced, igniting a discussion among her followers. "This is not the first time Sridevi was ignored!" one person wrote. She has produced several award-winning performances that were truly outstanding.
There are mixed reactions in the comments area; some users support Madhuri's performances, while others believe Sridevi was undervalued.
"In addition to this, Sridevi did not win an award for her outstanding performances in Laadla, Gumrah, Judaai, and English Vinglish. Unfortunately, the filmfare event did not take place in 1986 or 1987, and Sri won the prize for Mr. India and Nagina," one remark said. One fan stated, "Are we really surprised? This is Bollywood — it values dance, appearances, and glamour. No one cares about acting skills or talent."
The discussion was deemed pointless by one social media outlet, which stated, "All you guys need to get a life... I mean Madhuri vulgar in dhak dhak.... She was absolutely fantastic and show stellar in this song."
In the meantime, others fiercely debated the value of each actor's performance, with some calling Madhuri's well-known song Dhak Dhak alluring and amazing.
One commenter said, "Without a doubt, Madhuri Dixit is khuda gawah for this year's Sridevi. Madhuri was just fantastic in Beta." "Sorry, but khuda guwah wasn't that great of a movie," a different fan commented.
"Dhak Dhak is simply beautiful; there is nothing vulgar about it," one user posted.
In reference to the controversy surrounding Virat Kohli and Tamannaah Bhatia, who said that their Instagram accounts "accidentally liked" a video starring Avneet Kaur and Deepika Padukone, respectively, one social media user posted on Reddit, "Even she will come up with the algorithm story now."
Janhvi's upcoming movie
The world premiere and screening of Janhvi's forthcoming film, Homebound, took place at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. In addition, she will appear with Sidharth Malhotra in Param Sundari.
