Jamie Lever, the daughter of comedian and actor Johnny Lever, just spoke out about being an overweight youngster and struggling with body image issues throughout her childhood. Jamie also mentioned being referred to as a witch and getting remarks about her complexion in an interview with Hauterrfly.

Jamie said, "I get so many comments," as she discussed the abuse she's experienced because of her complexion. Kaali hai (she's dark), chudail lagti hai (she looks like a witch), chudail jaise hasti hai (she laughs like a witch), you are ugly, you won't get work in the industry, tu marr kyu nahi jaati (why don't you just die), you are not getting work because of the way you look... Girls with this kind of appearance don't get movies. I have received such communications throughout my life. In this place, colorism is such a major concern. In our nation, colorism is a big issue. People used to urge me to use turmeric masks, ubtans, and other products in order to "become fair" during my childhood.

Jamie Lever discusses her physical insecurities

As a chubby and obese youngster, Jamie had a lot of body concerns growing up, she recalled. "There was a time when I used to cover my body with long kurtas," she continued. Due to my larger hip, even my family urged me to cover my rear. What should I do about my pear-shaped body? I didn't love myself since I was instructed to change my physique. I was ashamed of my physique, and I didn't start to accept myself and my curves until much later in life.

She also remembered her mother pushing her to shed pounds since women in the business are required to have a particular appearance. She then began working on her physical body and uploading videos of her exercises to social media in order to motivate other young women similar to her.

Jamie began her career as a comedian in 2013 on the program Comedy Circus Ke Mahabali, which was broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television. With Kapil Sharma's film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, she made her Bollywood debut in 2015. She has since appeared in a number of films, including Housefull 4, Bhoot Police, Yaatris, and Crakk.
