For more than forty years, Jackie Shroff, a Bollywood performer, has captivated audiences with his movies. The actor told Kunickaa Sadanand on her podcast that Dev Anand had previously chosen Mithun Chakraborty to take his place as the second lead in his planned Bollywood debut. Nevertheless, Jackie wholeheartedly proceeded with the movie because of his high opinion of the celebrity.

When Dev Anand gave Jackie Shroff the role of second lead in Swami Dada

"It so happened that he offered me the second lead," Jackie said, remembering how thrilled he was when Dev Anand gave him a part in his movie Swami Dada. I was speechless to see Dev sahab in front of me. His son Sunil was also present. "He's (his father) offering a film," he told me. I replied, "Wow!" I returned home and informed my mother that I was getting the second lead. The entire community exclaimed, "Woohoo, Jaggu hero!"

Jackie Shroff on being reduced to the third antagonist

After 15 days, Dev sahab summoned me and told me that I had been demoted to the third villain, he said. He said to me when I arrived, "Mithun is here. So I'm going to give that role to Mithun." Because he's a better dancer. You dance well, but he's better. I've watched you dance. In addition, he is a senior. I will give you a position in the villain's lair in exchange for the dates you presented to me. I also worked as Shakti Kapoor's henchman in the villain's lair. Within 15 days, I was demoted from the second lead to the third antagonist. I went back home and told my mom I got a villain's role (laughs).

Driven by his love and respect for Dev Anand, he claimed he still put his all into the movie. Jackie said that he wasn't too upset about being demoted because he still had the privilege of working in Dev Anand's picture.
