The news lately has been dominated by the "kiss cam" incident between Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot during a Coldplay performance. The similarities to a 2009 episode of Modern Family were immediately highlighted by the internet. Julie Bowen, who played Claire on the programme, has now responded to the comparisons in an interview with Access Hollywood.

The resemblance of the Coldplay kiss cam controversy to a moment from Modern Family, according to Julie Bowen

Julie highlighted the parallels between the contentious Coldplay kiss cam and a standout scene from the first season of Modern Family. Acknowledging the viral conversation, Bowen stated, "I've seen it. Yes, I saw it on social media, where people are saying, 'We predicted it.'"

"It's crazy, isn't it?" Julie said in response to the incident involving the Coldplay kiss cam. "That guy really got nailed." She did too.

As her husband Phil (played by Ty Burrell) and Gloria (played by Sofía Vergara) continuously show on the kiss cam during a Lakers game, Bowen's character Claire watches from home in the episode of Modern Family that is being mentioned. Eventually, after a couple of clumsy rejections, Gloria leans in and gives Phil, her son-in-law, a kiss that shocks him. The event is televised live. Strangely enough, Claire misses the moment, but she is upset with Phil for not answering her call. "Mum saw you on TV. You're dead," Alex (Ariel Winter), their daughter, tells her father in the ideal deadpan manner. Phil infers that Claire is upset about the kiss, which causes a misunderstanding that occurs later in the episode.

As a result of the live Coldplay performance, the video has resurfaced on social media. Inadvertently, Chris Martin drew attention to what seems to be Andy Byron's (the former CEO of Astronomer) secret affair with the head of HR at the business during the kiss cam portion of the band's performance at Gillette Stadium outside of Boston. The pair were seen hugging one another, and when they realized they were the focus of everyone's attention, Kristin covered her face while Andy hid.
