Ishaan Khatter Reveals Disagreements with The Royals’ Team Over Unnecessary Shirtless Scenes

For his most recent release, The Royals, which premiered on Netflix last month, actor Ishaan Khatter appeared shirtless in several scenes. For several days, the actor's washboard abs were the subject of conversation on social media. However, did the actor think that the program had unintentionally become somewhat objectifying? Ishaan admitted to Mashable India in an interview that he agreed to the project, but he continued to argue with the producers about those shirtless moments.

What Ishaan said

"It's that kind of character... jo shirt nahi pehenta hai," Ishaan said during the interview. He doesn't like wearing a shirt, plain and simple. To be fair, it will seem like this right now... but since I had made a commitment, I went for it, but on some days I did disagree with them on the topic of 'Iss scene mein toh shirt pehen sakta hain'. What is necessary in this scene (he can wear a shirt in this scene; there is no need for him to be topless!)? They came up with some fascinating ways to incorporate this into the screenplay, such as the ability for me to wear a blanket while I sleep, which I actually enjoyed.

When Homebound lost weight

For the movie scenes where he had to ride horses, Ishaan continued, he trained himself appropriately. Furthermore, Ishaan stated that riding a horse is not as frightening as it may appear. For Homebound, he also revealed that he had to lose all of his muscular mass. "You got to lose the muscles!" he said, and I responded, "Yeah, I can do that, it is easier for me to look like that." But he (director Neeraj Ghaywan) replied, "No, no.. Ishaan please! I don't want to see a single sinew on your body!" I had to drop another 8–10 kg!"

The Royals were met with varied reactions upon their release. The show's subpar script and the lack of chemistry between Ishaan and Bhumi Pednekar's characters were slammed by several reviewers. Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Dino Morea, and Nora Fatehi also played significant roles in the production. Netflix revived the show for a second season, despite a variety of opinions.
