Is Prem Kumar, Director of Meiyazhan, Planning His First Hindi Film?

The Tamil filmmaker Prem Kumar, who is most recognized for his films like 96 and Meiyazhagan, may be headed to Bollywood. One of the subjects covered during a panel discussion on south cinema at the Indian Screenwriters Conference was whether Bollywood was the ultimate aim for any of the panelists, which included Prem, Hemanth M Rao, Christo Tomy, and Vivek Athreya. Hemanth claimed it was subjective and contingent on the individuals he will be working with, while Vivek was firm about remaining faithful to their roots. In the past, Hemanth was a member of the writing staff for Andhadhun. In addition to being adaptable, Christo is currently hosting a web program in Hindi.

The intention was for Abhishek Bachchan to star in 96

Prem then added that he had been attempting to produce a Hindi film ever since his previous picture, 96, which he had wanted to present to Abhishek Bachchan, but he hadn't made any progress on it. In the end, Vijay Sethupathi starred in the movie, which was made in Tamil. If given the opportunity, Prem would like to recreate either 96 or his most recent film, Meiyazhagan, in Hindi, but he is also promoting a new script for the Hindi market.

"I've written a script for Hindi now. I've begun the process of promoting it in the industry. The primary cause is the variety of the Hindi audience. Tamil industry is solely in Tamil Nadu, whereas Hindi encompasses a large number of states, and Kannada is exclusively in Karnataka. There is a wide range of possibilities for placing your script in different states, and the color shifts drastically. One of the positive aspects of Hindi cinema, in his opinion, is that he is yet attempting to produce both 96 and Meiyazhagan in Hindi.

Given that his father was raised in northern India and introduced Prem to movies from there from an early age, the filmmaker credits his upbringing for his passion for Hindi film. “I always claimed Naseeruddin Shah was my favorite actor until I joined the film institute,” he admits.
