Interview: Ashutosh Rana Clarifies He Has ‘No Ambition’ to Enter Politics
6 months ago | 5 Views
Ashutosh Rana, an actor, has expanded his career by dabbling in a variety of sectors, such as acting, voiceover, writing, and producing. The arena of politics, though, does not appear to be one in which he wants to leave his imprint. He claims that he has no desire to begin his political career.
Ashutosh spoke candidly to the Hindustan Times about the possibility of entering politics, as well as his recent return to his theatrical roots with the play Humare Ram.
Concerning his future in politics
Ashutosh's response was direct and unambiguous when questioned about a possible foray into politics.
In Hindi, Ashutosh informs us that "we are all in politics since we are part of a democracy. We all have a right to vote, which means that every person is part of the political world."
"The only difference is that some people reach the Parliament and some people are part of the whole political system from the road... Today, I believe we need many more people to raise awareness on the streets," the actor goes on. Because agar sadak jagi rahegi toh sansad saji rahegi aur aur sansad saji rahi toh sadak jagruk rahegi (If the streets are awake, the parliament will be vibrant, and if the parliament is vibrant, the streets will be aware).
He stressed that not everyone is able to participate in Parliament. "I am one of the more than 1.75 billion citizens in the nation. Therefore, the actor states, "I have no ambition to enter the political world right now, and I don't even want to," adding, "I have political knowledge and understanding but don't have any such ambition. Furthermore, I am referring to my current frame of mind since I don't believe in making any future plans.
The actor, who will soon appear in War 2, stated, "I leave it to God and don't plan anything. I have faith in the truth of the moment."

When reconnecting with theatre
After 24 years, Ashotosh, who is famous for his performances in films like Dushman, Sangharsh, and Pagglait, just made a comeback to the stage. In Felicity Theatre's production of Humare Ram, he portrays the character of Ravan. He recently performed the play in Delhi, and he is not bringing it to places like Kolkata, Rajkot, or Ahmedabad.
“Theatre is our home ground. A place where my acting journey began,” says Ashutosh when discussing returning to the stage.
"After 2000, I returned to theatre." Nothing compares to the tranquility and joy that an actor experiences when performing in a theater. It is truly unique. The actor, who began his career at the National School Drama, claims, "We communicate and connect with the audience while performing on the stage."
When asked why he stayed away for so long, Ashutosh says that he was waiting for the perfect moment and the ideal part. “I hoped to advance theatre to the next level, and it was accomplished through this play Humare Ram... It is a larger-than-life story. With the play, we were able to capture the majesty, and the stage, which made me feel fortunate to have gotten this, which was well worth the wait," he said in conclusion.
