The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has officially written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express its severe disapproval of the reappearance of Pakistani actors' social media profiles in India. Following the ban imposed in the wake of the Pahalgam incident, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane's Instagram profile was available in India a day ago.

AICWA's declaration

"It is highly alarming and totally unacceptable that social media accounts of Pakistani artists such Mawra Hocane, Yumna Zaidi, and numerous Pakistan-based channels are once again visible in India," the statement said. This is more than just a digital representation; it is a blatant affront to the sacrifice made by our martyred troops and an emotional attack on every Indian who has lost a loved one in terrorist acts committed by Pakistan."

“Let the nation not forget—” the letter further stated. Pakistan is a terrorist state now, was a terrorist state in the past, and will continue to be one in the future. Pakistan has consistently used terrorism to wage war on India, from the Mumbai attacks on 26/11 to Pulwama, Uri, and Pahalgam. Hundreds of innocent civilians have been victims of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, and thousands of our brave soldiers have given their lives to defend this country along its frontiers.

"Enforce a digital blackout of all Pakistani social media accounts"

The letter made the following recommendations: "We urge the Honorable Prime Minister and the Government of India to:

1.Implement a complete digital blackout of all Pakistani social media accounts and media outlets throughout the country right away.

2. Prohibit all future partnerships or campaigns involving Pakistani nationals in Indian media, OTT platforms, and advertising.

3. As a sign of respect for the Indian Armed Forces and the families of our martyrs, formally announce a permanent cultural disconnect from Pakistan.

The AICWA had requested a few weeks prior to the prompt suspension of Diljit Dosanjh's social media profiles in India as well as the deletion of all of his songs and movies from websites like YouTube, Spotify, JioSaavn, and other OTT services. His film Sardaar Ji 3 cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, which caused the backlash.
