In the face of growing backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, Imtiaz Ali has come to Diljit Dosanjh's defense. The actor-singer is being criticized by the Federation of Western India Cinema Employees (FWICE) for co-starring with her. In an interview with NDTV, Ali, the director of Netflix's Amar Singh Chamkila (starring Dosanjh), spoke about the subject. Although he didn't elaborate on the specifics of the scenario, he did compliment Dosanjh's honesty and patriotism.
"I can't say much on the row, but since I know Diljit, I can say that uss mein deshbhakti ka jazbaa poora bhara hua hai (He is completely filled with the spirit of patriotism)," the filmmaker said. He's one of the land's offspring. He brings the Indian flag to every performance, as you can see.
"He doesn't fake things," Ali continued. He doesn't engage in any deception. He wasn't asked to do it by anybody. With the Indian flag, he concludes each of his performances with the statement "Main hoon Punjab" (I am Punjab).
