Imran Khan fans have been waiting for the actor to make a comeback in Bollywood already. He was approached for a project, a web series with Abbas Tyrewala. While Imran had said yes to the show, he is glad that it is not working out anymore. The series is on the backburner and Imran sees no hope of it being revived.

Imran glad he didn’t work in the series, here’s the reason

If the series had happened, Imran would be playing the role of a spy. He is however glad that the project didn’t come through, because he does not want to play a character that solves problems with a gun. During his interaction with Film Companion, the actor shared about Bollywood glamourizing violence. It is what makes him uncomfortable. He spoke about growing up watching action movies and him considering Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone as his heroes. “There is a way to portray violence,” he said, claiming that it is not about morality but that action and violence is a language within cinema and it should be portrayed where people feel the weight of it. He then goes on to talk about how in Bollywood a hero goes in and shoots seven people simultaneously, making their heads explode into music. “They make it cool and sexy. That makes me uncomfortable,” Imran said with a sad expression.

Why the project fell apart and there’s probably no hope

While talking about the series with Abbas Tyrewala, Imran said that the filmmaker reached out when he was on a vacation and spoke about the script of the series. Abbas started the conversation by asking Imran to work with him on the very project back in July 2023. The series was originally supposed to stream on Disney+Hotstar but owing to its merger with Jio Cinema, the project is now on the backburner.

“I was attached to at least one if not two projects that were being developed which I would have acted in right after Katti Batti,” he said further sharing that as they went through the process, his heart disconnected more with the films. “I can’t do this, I don’t believe it,” Imran said back then. He did not want to engage with something that didn’t feel absolutely right.
