‘I Was Moved’: Pradeep Ranganathan Reacts to Mohanlal’s Thudarum

Thudarum, Mohanlal's most recent smash hit movie, is still receiving positive feedback from fans a week after its OTT debut. The film was directed by Tharun Moorthy, who also helmed Saudi Vellakka. The Malayalam thriller has been lauded by film actors and directors from other sectors as well as by ardent Lalettan devotees. Pradeep Ranganathan, a young Tamil actor who recently starred in the blockbuster film Dragon, is the newest member of the Thudarum fanbase.

After breaking multiple records and having a successful run in theaters, Tharun Moorthy's third film as director, Thudarum, was released on JioHotstar on May 30, 2025. Thudarum seems to be gaining more star actors and directors since its OTT debut. Following his viewing of Thudarum, Tamil filmmaker Selvaraghavan hailed Mohanlal as the greatest actor in India. After seeing Thudarum, Love Today actor-director Pradeep Rangathan has now contacted Tharun Moorthy.

"Just saw Thudarum.. what a movie, loved it... I felt the emotions of the protagonist ... Extraordinary.," Pradeep said of Tharun. "I felt the emotions of the protagonist ... Extraordinary." I wish you the best of luck with your forthcoming movies." Pradeep's message was shared on Instagram stories by the Operation Java director.

Thudarum is available for streaming on JioHotstar in five languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Thudarum plot and cast

Thudarum follows ‘Benz’ Shanmugham (Mohanlal), a cab driver in a small town in Kerala. However, his happy life is upended after his car is seized by the police, setting off a chain of incidents that link back to his family.

The film then enters the revenge thriller territory as Benz, a former stuntman, vows to take down George Sir and his police force. Prakash Varma played the menacing George Sir, winning appreciation for pulling off such a strong role in his acting debut.

The film is also special as it stars Shobana as Lalitha, opposite the Lucifer star. Binu Pappu, , Farhaan Faasil, and Thomas Mathew play other key roles along with Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Irshad Ali.
