Despite having signed her first film seven years ago, Manushi Chhillar has only had four releases. Maalik, the fifth movie of the choosy actor, is about to be released, and in it, she plays a character that is more grounded than any of her previous roles. Before the film's debut, Manushi discusses her part and fit in the film with HT.

Concerning her established style in Maalik

Manushi has already conducted a dozen interviews for Maalik by the time we sit down to talk to her. The question about her de-glam appearance in the movie has been the most asked. "It depends on the role you are playing," Manushi replies when asked if the Hindi film business places an excessive amount of emphasis on the appearance of female actors. "If you are meant to seem like a specific alluring diva, then that is the need," the actor says. It is a medium that relies on sight. Regardless of gender, actors must resemble their characters. Sometimes we want the movie's male protagonist to appear as a fantasy to all women, or the female protagonist to appear as a fantasy to all males.

She maintains, though, that the appearance is frequently discussed but is not entirely the actor's fault. "The appearance comes with a team. "It's not just your duty," Manushi argues.

For not being a misfit among the cast

The real challenge for her in Maalik, according to the performer, was to avoid looking out of place. Rajkummar Rao plays the main role in the film, which also features a stellar supporting cast that includes Prosenjit Chatterjee, Saurabh Shukla, and Swanand Kirkire. Manushi says, "The challenge for me was that this is a very rooted character, and I'll be sharing screen space with a lot of experienced senior actors," adding, "Everyone is playing all these characters with a lot of individuality." Teamwork is necessary for filmmaking. I didn't want to seem out of place in this world. I was attempting to do that while making an effort to avoid appearing inexperienced. I didn't want to come across as an outcast.

The film Maalik, which is helmed by newcomer Pulkit, will be released on July 11.
