Despite the passion that went into its creation, Anurag Basu's 2017 picture Jagga Jasoos did poorly at the box office, as the director recently disclosed. He disclosed that, since the project was not motivated by financial gain, both he and Ranbir Kapoor accepted wage reductions for it.

Anurag discloses

Anurag, whose most recent movie, Metro in Dino, was released on July 4, told Galatta Plus in an interview that he takes care to prevent producers from losing money on their projects.

“It is always covered,” Anurag stated. My producers will not whine about that. Consequently, I am aware that this is the budget with which I must work. I knew this was an ensemble cast, not a cast with big stars, so Metro was produced on a low budget. Of which I am very mindful. Additionally, the business is quite cutthroat.

He emphasized that his top priority when producing a movie is to ensure that everyone earns money, even if the picture isn't successful.

At one point in the conversation, Anurag glanced back at Jagga Jasoos and how it did at the box office. “Jagga didn't make a lot of money, but we were just about there,” he said. Concerning Jagga Jasoos

Jagga Jasoos, which Anurag Basu directed in 2017 and which took around four years to produce, was a commercial failure. The reported ₹130 crore budget for Jagga Jasoos, which starred Katrina Kaif, was not met. The late Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir's father, had publicly criticized Anurag for the movie's flop, attributing the way the movie was received to his mismanagement.
