Pratik Shah, a filmmaker who lives at home, became embroiled in a controversy after being accused of abuse and misconduct. He immediately removed his Instagram account. Neeraj Ghaywan, the director of the movie, has now published a message of appreciation for everyone who contributed to the film's production, but he made no mention of Pratik Shah.

Last month, the Cannes Film Festival hosted the world premiere of Homebound in its Un Certain Regard category. But it didn't get any awards at that event. Now that the whirlwind of Cannes is over, I would like to recognize the contributions of those who worked on our movie, #Homebound, Neeraj said on Monday via his X account.

"Beginning with the writing process," he said. The piece "Taking Amrit Home" that @BasharatPeer wrote for the New York Times was the start of it all. @somenmishra0 (Producer) proposed the concept of me directing the movie to Basharat, who was thrilled by the notion, after introducing me to it. As I read the tale, something within me cried out for it to come to life. I went along with Basharat to see the families mentioned in the piece. Meeting them gave me even more certainty that I wanted to continue this narrative. I sowed that in the narrative since it caused me to contemplate my own existence. Without your guidance and your essay, the Homebound adventure would not have started. Thank you so much!

He continued by expressing his gratitude to story and screenplay expert Sumit Roy, dialogue author Varun Grover, dialect instructor Shreedhar Dubey, the development crew at Dharma Productions, DA and Script Supervisor Ibad Shaikh, co-producer Melita Toscan Du Plantier, and editor Nitin Baid.

"I neglected to mention that I also wrote the screenplay for Homebound. "That was all by myself," he said at the conclusion of the tweet thread, which made no mention of cinematographer Pratik Shah.

Dharma's remarks on the issue

In the meanwhile, Dharma Productions released an official statement on the issue, stating that "Mr. Pratik Shah was a freelancer on the project Homebound and was working on it for a limited period." He is no longer involved with us. No member of the cast or crew of our film "Homebound" filed a complaint against him to our internal POSH committee throughout this short window of time. The allegations of abuse and misconduct leveled against Pratik Shah have not yet received a response from Neeraj.

Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, who are now at home. The picture garnered a nine-minute standing ovation during its Cannes screening, where the crew was present. Martin Scorsese is the executive producer of it.
