Now that Heeramandi is finally out on Netflix, one can see how Sonakshi Sinha appears to be in the times of Kaala Patthar, which also featured her father Shatrughan Sinha. The actress, when asked if she took inspiration from the very film, spoke about how she wanted to do something similar. Not just Kaala Patthar, Shatrughan was also a part of Vishwanath as the antagonist. Sonakshi spoke on them in brief.

What the actress said

Sonakshi Sinha told ETimes that while they were not her reference points, she always wanted to play a villain or dark character since that is what her father Shatrughan Sinha started his Bollywood career with. “That’s always been on my bucket list and that’s finally happened, so I’m very excited and so happy,” Sonakshi said.

Has been trying out different roles

The actress said that her consistent effort has been to play good characters and new roles. She explained how she has been choosing different characters to play on-screen, by following her heart and playing the roles she wanted to play. “Strong female characters,” is how she describes them, further stating that’s what she wants to be remembered for. “I made my mistakes, I learnt from them, I probably will make more mistakes, but that’s okay, it's part of life and I’m enjoying what I’m doing,” she said.

“This (Heeramandi) is just putting a huge stamp on it, with Sanjay sir’s approval and going global with Netflix,” Sonakshi further mentioned, adding that it would be amazing for everyone associated with the movie.

Not played a negative character out of fear of being typecast?

When asked if she did not try playing a villain because of a fear of being typecast in the very role, the actress said, “Not at all. There are so many different types of roles being written, with the boom of OTT.” She then spoke about how platforms have opened up the floodgates of creating content. “Any type of content is now acceptable I feel, so I think it’s a wonderful time to be an actor, writer and director,” she signed off.
