Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi was the story of many female courtesans but there was a queer, who was respected as much as the women. Indresh Malik, who played the role, spilled details about Sonakshi Sinha’s intimate scene on the show. He went on talk about the time when Sonakshi shot the scene in front of her mother, and in fact asked him to relax.

Indresh spills the tea

While talking about the scene with Bollywood Now, Indresh recalled how Sonakshi had to hold his head in between her legs. The scene was with Rehana, who was the former head courtesan at Heeramandi. Sonakshi’s mother Poonam Sinha was also there on sets while they were shooting the scene. Her presence made Indresh self-conscious and he was worried if the scene can go well. On noticing he’s nervous, Sonakshi Sinha reassured the actor. “She told me not to be conscious, asked me to relax, made me comfortable, and said she will do the necessary,” Indresh recalled.

On the scene with Jason Shah

There is one scene between Indresh and Jason Shah which is one of the highlights of the show. While discussing the particular scene, Indresh revealed that the shot did not require many retakes, which he called satisfying. “Sanjay sir doesn’t settle until he achieves what he wants,” the actor resonated much like all of SLB’s cast members, especially from the show. Indresh was nervous about the particular scene as well and for the same, he discussed how to go about the shot with Jason an hour before the take and then they eventually ‘went with the flow.’

Indresh felt the character was tailor-made for him

Indresh played the role of Ustadji in the series. While the focus of the show is on the six female courtesans, Ustadji had an impactful role right at the beginning of the show. When he heard about the character, all Indresh could think of is that the character is tailor-made for him. It challenged the actor in him by tapping into the many emotions Ustadji has. “As soon as I got a call from the casting department, I responded that it’s made for me,” Indresh recalled.
