According to author Amy Odell's new book, Gwyneth: The Biography, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who briefly dated actor Brad Pitt, was really heartbroken to learn that her former lover had married Friends actress Jennifer Aniston.

Brad Pitt's marriage as seen by Gwyneth

After collaborating on David Fincher's horror masterpiece Se7en in 1994, Brad, now 61, and Gwyneth, now 52, started dating. They broke up in 1997 after getting engaged in 1996. Gwyneth: The Biography, as reported by US Weekly, discusses her response to Brad's marriage to Jennifer.

In an interview at the Toronto Film Festival in 2000, a "gossipy reporter" questioned the performer about "how she felt about Brad Pitt marrying Jennifer Aniston (in July of that year)."

Gwyneth responded, with the book noting that her eyes were "daggers," saying, "Are you seriously asking me this question?" "I can't comment on this kind of thing," the book excerpt stated.

The passage went on to say, "In fact, Gwyneth told friends she felt sad when she found out they were getting married. (She also enjoyed informing them that Brad 'has terrible taste in women.')"

In retrospect, Gwyneth poked fun at Brad later that year during a business meeting with Estee Lauder cosmetics heiress Aerin Lauder.

"The two were discussing Brad Pitt at one dinner. The excerpt stated that Gwyneth allegedly told her, "He's dumber than a sack of s–t," according to someone acquainted with the conversation.

Concerning Brad and Jennifer

Brad and Jennifer were married for just over five years. In 2000, the couple got married, and in 2005, they split up. In Malibu in 1998, at a secluded wedding, Brad and Jennifer first crossed paths.

Later, Brad and Jennifer began dating, and they tied the knot after two years of being together. Jennifer requested a divorce in January 2005. Rumors that Brad was dating Angelina Jolie began in 2004, while he was still wed to Jennifer. Angelina revealed in 2006 that she was carrying Brad's kid. Brad and Angelina got married in August 2014. The couple filed for divorce in 2016.
