Torii, Gauri Khan's Mumbai restaurant, was in trouble earlier this year, in April, when a content creator alleged that the establishment used iodine-stained, black paneer (cottage cheese) in its cuisine. The rumors were then put to rest by the restaurant. In an interview with Screen, the restaurant's head chef Stefan Gadit has now revealed that the scandal actually had a contrary effect, bringing in more "impact" to the establishment.

What the executive chef stated

"It makes an impact when we point fingers at something baseless," the head chef said during the encounter. Everything we provide is of the highest quality, including the ingredients; there was nothing for us to be concerned about. In order for people to understand what is happening and how things are done, we released the statement. Food chemistry and food science involve a lot of activity; it takes four years, and just pouring something on something was, well, don't get me wrong. He did it out of the goodness of his heart, only seeking to verify.

"I gained over 20 to 30 followers"

He proceeded to discuss the issue of whether the restaurant was impacted by the controversy, stating, "It increased our business and I got more than 20-30 followers on Instagram, so that was a blessing in disguise, I would say.”

Later, the video in which YouTuber Sarthak Sachdeva alleged that the restaurant used "fake paneer" was taken down. In the comments section of the now-removed video, Torii had also replied, "The iodine test reflects the presence of starch, not the authenticity of the paneer." This reaction is to be expected because the dish uses soy-based components. At Torii, we uphold the integrity of our ingredients and the purity of our paneer," the remark stated.

Last year on Valentine's Day, Torii, Gauri Khan's restaurant, debuted. The opening ceremony was attended by Sussanne Khan, Neelam Kothari, Bhavana Pandey, Maheep Kapoor, and Seema Sajdeh.
