Thursday saw the initial preview of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. The movie, which is said to be the largest and most costly production in Indian history, stars stars like Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana. In addition to Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Sai Pallavi is also featured in the title card as Sita. And among these celebrities is a former TV actor, who may make his big cinematic debut in the picture. In the mythological epic, Ravi Dubey portrays Lakshman, one of the main characters of the high-budget production.
Ravi Dubey's path from engineer to movie star
Ravi Dubey was born in Gorakhpur, lived in Delhi and Gurgaon as a youngster, and then attended Mumbai's Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology to study electronic and telecommunications engineering. Ravi started out as a model in college, and in 2006 he got a job in television with the Doordarshan program Stree...Teri Kahaani. Saas Bina Sasural and 12/24 Karol Bagh were the shows with which Ravi finally broke through. The popular series Jamai Raja brought him even greater success.
With Arun Govil's UR My Jaan, he made his cinematic debut in 2011, but he went back to television when the film failed. He was chosen to play Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana in October 2024. Arun Govil, his first producer, also plays King Dashratha in the movie, by chance.
The Ramayana's Lakshman is portrayed by Ravi Dubey
The actor had not formally acknowledged playing Lakshman for months, despite speculations, until his name was listed on the title card on Thursday. After that, Ravi shared the first video preview in a social media post to confirm it. "It's the greatest honor of my life to be part of a story that has shaped generations," Ravi wrote in a sincere Instagram message. The eternal tale of Rama versus Ravana, Namit Malhotra's Ramayana, is now available. Thankful to be on this journey and to share it with you all. Let's join in the celebration and enter the @worldoframayana together. The Truth About Us. Our Story."
Although the video only provided fleeting glimpses of Ranbir as Ram and Yash as Ravana, the appearance of the rest of the main cast, such as Ravi, Pallavi, and Sunny, is still kept a secret.
