Feminism in the Firing Line? Deepika Fans Take on Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Despite Deepika Padukone's decision to remain silent on the subject, the battle between her and Sandeep Reddy Vanga has grown worse. However, that hasn't discouraged Vanga. The filmmaker appeared to accuse Deepika of leaking the story of his film, Spirit, which she recently left, in a lengthy tweet on Monday night. In his article, though, the filmmaker was criticized online for his assault on "feminism."

What Sandeep Reddy Vanga said

Last week, Deepika had left Spirit, Vanga's movie starring Prabhas. A few days later, Triptii Dimri was named as her replacement. Pinkvilla ran a story on Monday that covered a few of the plot elements and important facts about Spirit. In a fit of rage, Vanga tweeted, though he didn't mention Deepika by name, that she had revealed the story.

"I have complete faith when I tell an actor a story. We have an implicit NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. However, by doing this, you have "DISCLOSED" the sort of person you are...Is this what your feminism is all about—putting down a younger actor and kicking out my narrative? Filmmaking is my life, and I spent years learning and perfecting it. You didn't understand. You won't understand. You'll never understand. Vanga wrote, "Do this... Tell the entire tale next time... because I don't give a damn," and he included the hashtag #PRGames just in case.

The internet responds

The tweet's critique of Deepika's feminism drew a lot of attention on Twitter. “Andra Tate will never miss an opportunity to insert feminism when it has nothing to do with the power struggle and b***ing between two privileged cinema bourgeoisie,” one user commented sarcastically after sharing the article.

Others laughed at Vanga posting a long note while also saying he is not bothered by it all. "Ego got hurt so blame feminism for it and write such a long ass post!! and then saying zara bhi fark nahi parta lol, such a cry baby," quipped one. "what a crybaby omg says mujhe jarra bhi faraq nahi padta yet proceeds to write a whole ass paragraph," chirped another.

Vanga was criticized by several for making jabs at feminism while his films promote harmful male conduct. One tweet said, "It's not filmmaking vanga to glorify domestic violence, cheating, abuse, and what not in your films. You shouldn't be the one to criticize someone's feminism." "Deepika is true alpha for making this man child cry," one admirer of Deepika said.

Does Deepika truly 'stand by her decision'?

Amid the ongoing dispute, a film of Deepika discussing her choices in difficult circumstances took on a new significance on Wednesday. Deepika shared the philosophy of her life with Vogue Arabia while she was in Stockholm for a Cartier event. Deepika stated, "I think what keeps me balanced is just being truthful, being genuine, and being able to listen to my inner voice and just make decisions, stand by decisions that really give me peace whenever I am faced with, say, complicated or difficult situations. That is when I feel most in equilibrium."

What is the Soul?

With Spirit, Prabhas and Triptii Dimri work together for the first time on screen. Following the popularity of Animal, it would be her second time working with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, producer Bhushan Kumar, and Pranay Reddy Vanga. The movie, which will feature Prabhas playing the role of a cop, is produced by Bhadrakali Pictures and T-Series. The movie is now in its pre-production phase.
