With her movie Happy New Year, which premiered 11 years ago, filmmaker Farah Khan had audiences laughing. The movie was a big hit at the box office, with Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, and Abhishek Bachchan in the cast. Farah reflected on the premiere night in one of her recent vlogs, remembering how the entire cast passed out in the cinema during the movie.

During the vlog, Farah went to Sonu Sood's beautiful home in Mumbai. In addition to taking viewers around his gorgeous house, the couple also shared behind-the-scenes tales from their experience filming Happy New Year. Sonu, a vegetarian, subsisted on salad alone for 150 days, as Farah recalled that they shot the film in Dubai.

Farah entertained Sonu's wife, Sonali, with a funny story as he made avocado toast for her. She described how the cast went all out to promote the movie, saying, "Hum logon ne itni PR ki hai Happy New Year ki kisi picture ne nahi ki hogi." Following that, there was a three-week film tour and forty days of preparation. We even launched a TV show called the Happy New Year dance competition (we did so much public relations for Happy New Year, that no other film could possibly have done as much. We released a TV show, the Happy New Year dance competition, after a 40-day run and a 3-week promotional tour for the film.

The entire ensemble fell asleep during the premiere, according to Farah.

Regarding Happy New Year

The movie, which is set in Dubai during a global dance competition, centers on a group of outcasts who plan and carry out a heist during the competition. The film follows Charlie, played by Shah Rukh Khan, who is out for vengeance against a dishonest businessman, and Mohini, a bar dancer played by Deepika Padukone, who teaches the gang how to dance.

The film, which also stars Jackie Shroff and Vivaan Shah in important roles, was directed by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment brand. Happy New Year became one of the most commercially successful Bollywood films of 2014, earning ₹397 crore globally.
