On what might be considered a sad day for Telugu film, the great performer Kota Srinivasa Rao passed away earlier today, July 13, 2025. At his home in Hyderabad, he passed away after having age-related ailments for the previous two years. Throughout his illustrious career, he starred in more than 700 films and was among the most prolific performers in Telugu cinema.
The reason for Kota Srinivasa Rao's death is age-related complications.
Although Kota was mostly known for playing bad characters in Telugu movies, he eventually started playing humorous parts in his movies after filmmaker S. V. Krishna Reddy gave him comic roles, and ever since, he has been a comedic actor in several films. In Telugu film, Kota was the only performer who portrayed both comedic and villainous roles at the same time. He was so persuasive that the audience believed him in both of these roles.

Kota had a number of success in father roles and as a character performer. Kota appeared in almost every Telugu movie that came out at one point. He starred in almost 50 movies alongside fellow comic Babu Mohan, and their amusing duo was a huge success.
Kota was born into a highly educated family in Kankipadu, Andhra Pradesh, on July 10, 1942. Kota's ambition was to follow in his father's footsteps and become a doctor. However, he switched gears and began acting as a result of his passion for film and the arts.

With the movie Pranam Khareedu, Kota made his debut in 1978, but it was in Ram Gopal Varma's Money that he played his famous character. After that, he gained a kind of notoriety, and in 2015, the Indian government presented him with the renowned Padma Shri.
Seeing how well-liked he was, Kota made the decision to run for office and served as an MLA between 1999 and 2004. Additionally, his son died in a car accident in Hyderabad, which was a terrible personal tragedy for him.

Kota Srinivasa Rao's funeral to be held on July 13, 2025
In addition to Hindi films, the famous actor also played the lead bad guy in Amitabh Bachchan's Sarkar. We can argue that the Telugu film industry will sorely miss an actor like Kota, who will not return. His legendary lines are still popular in the form of reels on social media, making him relevant even in the modern world.
The funeral will take place later today. Kota's family has our sincere condolences during this difficult time, as expressed by OTTplay.
