The comparison between Brad Pitt's thrilling new racing drama F1 and Saif Ali Khan's 2007 film Ta Ra Rum Pum, which has a Days of Thunder vibe, is not just made by internet users at random. The memes have also been acknowledged by Siddharth Anand, the film's director.
Ta Ra Rum Pum receives a shout-out from Siddharth Anand
The filmmaker recently tweeted in praise of Ta Ra Rum Pum on X (previously Twitter), appearing to acknowledge the resurgence of its popularity following the release of F1.
Since the release of Joseph Kosinski's F1 in theaters this weekend, the Indian internet has been buzzing with memes and jokes comparing the Hollywood film to Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji's Ta Ra Rum Pum. On Tuesday, Siddharth shared a photo with the caption "lovely beast," suggesting that the memes had grabbed his attention. Siddharth didn't provide any further information in his article, leaving everything up to the imagination.
The internet reacts
However, the unspoken admission did not prevent supporters from going into a frenzy as a group. “Re-release kardo Lord,” one response said. “It was the best film you made," another fan wrote. The movie's DVD is still in my possession. "You should publish a sequel to this movie," said someone else. Some, though, weren't quite as enthusiastic about the fictitious comparisons, claiming that Ta Ra Rum Pum wasn't in the same class as F1.
The 2007 film Tara Rum Pum follows the ups and downs of the lives of a race car driver, RV (Saif), and his wife Radhika (Rani) as they raise their two children. In order to pay off his obligations, RV returns to NASCAR in the movie, which takes place in the United States. On a budget of ₹28 crore, the movie made ₹72 crore at the global box office, earning a range of reviews from mixed to good.
In contrast, Brad Pitt plays a former Formula One driver in F1 who is in his 50s and rejoins the top racing series to support a friend. In this coming-of-age sports drama, he raises the morale of his fictional squad. The movie, which was filmed during actual Formula One races, showcases genuine on-track racing by Brad and Damon Idris, and has cameos from several drivers and team managers. It has earned the largest box office debut in Brad Pitt's career.
The next project by Siddharth Anand
In the meanwhile, Siddharth is occupied filming for King, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Suhana Khan, among others.
Sujoy Ghosh was originally scheduled to helm King. Nonetheless, Siddharth Anand, the director of "Pathaan," which starred SRK, subsequently took over as the film's director. Recently, Mumbai saw the release of the movie.
