Sitaare Zameen Par Director Applauds Aamir Khan’s Humility Amid Rising Stars
6 months ago | 5 Views
Aamir Khan may be one of the three Khans who have dominated Bollywood for more than 30 years, but among Bollywood actors, his aura is one of the most enigmatic. Aamir is someone who consistently rejects his superstardom, as evidenced by his frequent interviews and public appearances in flip-flops. According to RS Prasanna, the director of his upcoming movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, this quality makes the actor likable and simple to collaborate with. Prasanna discusses the movie and the actor in an uninhibited discussion, revealing the production process, expectations, and other details.
On working with Aamir Khan
Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, Prasanna's most recent film, came out in 2017. Shortly after that, he claims, a possible partnership with Aamir Khan got off to a start. "Shamath (Mazumdar), his manager, reached out to me after Shubh Mangal Saavdhan." This man called me in Chennai while I was playing with my children and said, "I am calling from AKPL," but I don't know how that AKPL didn't register. Being from Chennai, I identify with Aamir Khan Productions. Later, when he mentioned Aamir Khan, I was like, "Why are you talking about Aamir Khan?" The director added, "It occurred to me when I questioned him," and then laughed.
Ultimately, things came together when he started working on the screenplay for Sitaare Zameen Par, the authorized Hindi version of Campeones. Only Aamir could portray the coach, in Prasanna's opinion. "After that, I fell into a severe despair. What if he declines? Sadly, I could see no one else in the position," he admits. But Aamir agreed to the movie, and production started.
The reason Aamir Khan rejects his fame
According to Prasanna, Aamir is a combination of actor, producer, and superstar. However, in every position, the star is someone who ignores compliments and seeks to stay out of the spotlight. Prasanna states, "The most surprising thing about Aamir sir is that he is a legend who acts like a newcomer, and you have newcomers who act like legends." I felt the same way about Bhumi (Pednekar) and Ayush (Ayushmann Khurrana) as I did about myself. They made me feel at ease since it was my debut directing role (in Shubh Mangal Savdhaan). The same may be said of Aamir sir.
The filmmaker adds, when discussing Aamir's hesitation to be a screen celebrity, "Sometimes, I have to remind him, 'You are a superstar; people want to watch your film. " However, he won't let me pander to my audience in the movie. He cares about nothing else but the movie and the plot. He is unimportant."
Taare Zameen Par, Aamir's 2007 picture, is followed by its spiritual sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par. Genelia D'Souza also plays a key part in the movie. The movie is set for a theatrical debut on June 20.
