Kerala Crime Files 2 is receiving praise for its compelling story and performances. Ahammed Khabeer is the director of the follow-up to Malayalam's debut web series, which is now available on JioHotstar. In an interview with OTTplay, the young director discussed the possibility of Kerala Crime Files 3 and the attention he pays to producing theatrical releases.

Is there going to be a third installment of Kerala Crime Files 3?

The filmmaker hinted at the possibility of a Kerala Crime Files 3, but he is currently focusing on a theatrical release since all of his other directorial efforts, with the exception of June, had a direct OTT release. "Because I love watching movies on the big screen, I've always wanted to be a filmmaker. "I was determined to play all six episodes of Kerala Crime Files 2 during the preview show because I get this feeling of satisfaction when I see people's response in theatres," he said.

Ahammed continued by saying that his forthcoming picture, which will feature Tamil actor Arjun Das's Malayalam debut, is currently in production. The filmmaker's own production firm, Monkey Business, paid for the second season of Kerala Crime Files. "I don't intend to use Monkey Business to only produce my directorials. If they're worth it, I have also invited my associates and others to bring in scripts," he said.

Thrillers or films that make you feel good?

The director said he likes thrillers over feel-good films or romantic comedies. "In my opinion, creating a light-hearted film is tough since the audience would be let down if you miss a meter," he said. Ahammed emphasized how much he enjoyed working on both seasons of Kerala Crime Files. In contrast to the first season, he added, the sequel had several levels that necessitated a different strategy. The filmmaker stated, "I was mainly enthralled by the script, and I'm also delighted that the audience liked it."
