After the terrible Pahalgam strike on April 22, 2025, Pakistani artists were prohibited from collaborating with Indian artists, and a number of well-known Pakistani figures have had their social media accounts banned in India. In the middle of all of this, Diljit Dosanjh has been receiving criticism for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his forthcoming picture, Sardaar Ji 3. The controversy has finally broken the silence of the singer-actor, inviting additional trolls online.
Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3
In an interview with the BBC Asian Network, Diljit Dosanjh revealed that the filming for Sardaar Ji 3 took place months before the conflict between India and Pakistan. He said that everything was OK when they filmed this picture in February during its production.
After that, he said, "See, many large items are beyond our control." As a result, the producers decided to release this film abroad because it would be evident that it was no longer set in India. In fact, a significant amount of money has been invested in it, and there was nothing like this when the movie was being produced. That's alright then, because in their minds, they already know that they will undoubtedly lose because you are deducting one territory from it.
Diljit continued by saying that when he first signed the movie, all was well, but now that they are not in control of the situation, he would back them if they wanted to release it elsewhere.
Netizens respond to Diljit Dosanjh's remark
Netizens continued to mock Diljit's remark online. “Can we actually cancel his citizenship? Are there any provisions for that? I would like him to not enter this country again please,” one user wrote in response to a Reddit thread that included a video of his interview.
"He is wealthy enough to take some losses by not releasing the film, but he chose not to," another said. “Jo apne desh ka nhi hua woh kisi ka nhi hota, ese gadaar hamesha rahe hai India mein,” one enraged user said.

In the interim, several internet users agreed with Diljit's remark, stating that if the film had been produced following the strike, it ought to have been halted.
On June 27, Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 is set to be released internationally.
