Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death in 2020 left everyone shocked and heartbroken. The actor was 34. When the news of his demise broke, people couldn't fathom that Sushant was no more. He was found dead in his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020. Four years down the line, SSR's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! director Dibakar Banerjee has recalled how people reacted when the actor passed away. The filmmaker mentioned that he couldn't see anybody mourning around Sushant when he left for his heavenly abode.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Dibakar Banerjee said he had cut himself off from everything as a lot was going on in the news about the cause of Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

"I was listening to everything but couldn't hear anybody saying that a young actor died. I couldn't see anybody around mourning him. All I could see was people trying to find out spicy gossip. So, I had to walk away from the situation," he recalled.

The filmmaker added that nobody said they were missing Sushant when he did. In fact, he feels not a single person spoke about how despite being an outsider, he worked in the television space and later debuted in movies. "Those who loved him should have organized a screening of his movies and discussed it. Why don't we cherish all his good memories? Sushant Singh Rajput has become a gateway to misery borne," added Banerjee.

Meanwhile, Dibakar Banerjee professionally collaborated with Sushant Singh Rajput for a film in 2015. SSR featured in Dibakar's directorial film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! The film was produced by Aditya Chopra and Dibakar. It hit the silver screen on April 3, 2015.

On the work front, Dibakar's latest film is LSD 2. It is slated for a theatrical release on April 19, 2024. As for Sushant, Dil Bechara with Sanjana Sanghi was his posthumous film release.
