In 2021, Bollywood star Dia Mirza gave birth to her son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi. But since he was born prematurely, he had to stay in the ICU for two months. In a recent interview with Official People Of India, Dia shared details about her difficult pregnancy and spoke about being kept apart from her child for months after he was born.

Her difficult pregnancy is the subject of Dia Mirza's discussion

She shared her experience throughout her pregnancy and how she had always longed to be a mother, but fate had different ideas. She ultimately became pregnant at the age of 39. She told that Avyaan was born in a "crazy situation" since the delivery was difficult. "It could have been a side effect of the appendix surgery I had during the fifth month of my pregnancy," she stated, "I developed an acute bacterial infection." We discovered that my placenta was hemorrhaging and my body was experiencing sepsis by the conclusion of my sixth month. Neither of us could have been saved if the baby hadn't been born. It was rather frightening.

She remembered being taken to the hospital while lying in the back seat of her car, where her gynecologist begged her to have faith in him. She admitted that she begged the doctor to just save her child. She said that because Avyaan only weighed 810 grams at birth, he was immediately brought to the ICU, while she was receiving IV antibiotics.

"They discovered 48 hours later that the germs in me were life-threatening," she continued. Avyaan needed life-saving surgery 36 hours after birth. My kid underwent surgery for a hole in his intestine. They gave him a stoma, which was essentially an exposed intestine that was pulled out of his body. I was only permitted to see him twice a week, and I wasn't allowed to hug him until he reached 2.5 kg. I brought him home for 20 days, but because the sight was so horrible, no nurse would even come near him. I thus took care of getting dressed. Following his 3.5 kg weight gain, he had a second procedure that lasted 3–4 hours during which the stoma was repaired.

In 2014, she tied the knot with Sahil Sangha, her longtime business partner, but the couple divorced in 2019. She eventually married entrepreneur Vaibhav Rekhi in 2021 in Bandra, Mumbai. In the same year, the couple gave birth to their son Avyaan. From Vaibhav's prior marriage, he also has a stepdaughter named Samaira Rekhi.

Dia, on the other hand, was last seen in the movie Nadaaniyan, where she portrayed Ibrahim Ali Khan's mother. The movie, which is currently available on Netflix, also stars Khushi Kapoor, Jugal Hansraj, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhary.
