With the critically acclaimed Tamil movie Por Thozhil, filmmaker Vignesh Raja is now preparing to release his second feature film, which stars actor Dhanush in the main role. With the producers awaiting formal confirmation, Pooja Hegde is likely to play the lead role.

With several ventures in the works, Dhanush, who was last seen in Kuberaa, is currently busy. Among these are a movie with Mari Selvaraj, a biography of APJ Abdul Kalam, and the Hindi film Tere Ishq Mein. According to sources, Pooja Hegde would play the lead role in a movie that Dhanush would also work on with budding filmmaker Vignesh Raja. The first time Dhanush and Pooja Hegde have worked together on camera is, in fact, in this picture. It is rumored that Vels Film International will provide the funding for the initiative. Worth noting is that Vignesh is one of the directors whose lineup for 2025–2027 was revealed by the production banner. If everything goes according to plan, the project could be revealed on Dhanush's birthday, July 28. The film is billed as a historical drama, and production is scheduled to begin later this month.

At the moment, theaters are screening Dhanush's most recent movie, Kuberaa. The multilingual picture, which Sekhar Kammula directed, also stars Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh in significant roles. Prime Video acquired the film's post-theatrical streaming rights.

In contrast, Pooja was last seen in Retro, where she starred alongside Suriya. Additionally, the actor has another Tamil film called Jana Nayagan, which is slated to be Vijay's farewell picture and will be released in theaters on January 9, 2026. Pooja will also have a cameo in Rajinikanth's forthcoming Coolie, where she will perform a unique dance routine that has not yet been released. On August 14, 2025, Coolie will be available in theaters.
