Dakota Johnson plays Lucy in Materialists, a highly anticipated movie by director Celine Song, where she portrays a smart and astute matchmaker ensnared in a love dilemma. Against the backdrop of modern romance and ambition, the movie depicts her voyage through a love triangle between her charming ex-boyfriend (Chris Evans) and a strange new suitor (Pedro Pascal).
What made Dakota choose Materialists?
Dakota discussed what drew her to the character and the nuances that made Lucy such an intriguing part during the movie's worldwide publicity.
"When I read the script, I was instantly drawn to the complex inscrutability I saw in Lucy. I was drawn to the part due to its complexity. There are many distinct Lucys because of the wide range of dynamics in the movie. In this regard, she is a bit of a chameleon; she acts differently around everyone else. I also enjoyed playing with the question of which of her is real.
On June 13, Materialists will be released by Sony Pictures Entertainment in theaters around India.

Dakota's initial foray into the film industry in Hollywood
Johnson said in a recent interview that her father, Don Johnson, pulled the plug on her finances when she chose not to continue her education after high school.
Johnson said that her father's ultimatum was straightforward: either go to college and get an allowance, or seek a career in acting and be independent.
Johnson stated that his father had cut him off because he hadn't attended college, and he hadn't gotten into college, so he began trying out. I think I was 19 when I performed The Social Network, followed by some lesser roles and other things, as reported by E! News.
Despite having money problems, Johnson was cast in several well-known movies, such as 'The Social Network' and the 'Fifty Shades' trilogy.
Johnson discussed the difficulties she had in attempting to succeed in Hollywood.
According to E! News, she claimed, "It was difficult to earn money for a few years, and there were a few occasions when I would go to the market and not have money in my bank account or be unable to pay rent, so I would have to ask my parents for help."
