Coolie is, of course, the next major Tamil film that is anticipated from Tamil cinema. The movie, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 14 and is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars Rajinikanth himself. However, despite its enormous size and cast of celebrities, the film seems to be on the less powerful side, with its rival War 2 dominating the majority of IMAX displays.

Coolie release: War 2 takes over IMAX screens

Without a doubt, the most hyped movie in Tamil cinema right now is Coolie. The film's star cast includes Rajinikanth, Upendra, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan. It seems that the Rajinkanth-starrer will have to give way to its rival War 2, the forthcoming Hindi film due for release on August 14, since the picture is well on its way for that date.

The Rajinikanth starrer has very few, if any, IMAX screens remaining because War 2 stars Junior NTR and Hrithik Roshan, who are primarily responsible for capturing them all. The IMAX format is well known to require that the output be sent in for screening far in advance. Coolie appears to be behind the times while Yash Raj Films, the producers of War 2, are in close contact with IMAX screens and have taken the initiative to book the IMAX screens for their movie. Due to exclusive agreements with War 2 producers, nations like the United States won't have IMAX screenings for Coolie because foreign bookings are already available.

Coolie: The hype never ends

Nevertheless of IMAX screenings, Coolie is still considered one of the much-anticipated Indian films in August. Lokesh Kanagaraj who has already proved his mettle in direction, will be joining with Rajinikanth for the first time. Though not an LCU film, the plot of the film surfacing online has created much buzz among the audience. The music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander and Sun Pictures is bagging the film.
