Celina Jaitly Slams ‘Jawani Diwani’ Makers for ‘Betrayal’ Over Serial Kisser Focus

Twenty years after the debut of Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Joyride, Celina Jaitly is finally regaining her voice and revealing the emotional betrayal she endured, both as an actress and through her persona Roma Fernandez. Celina shared in a heartfelt blog that the movie's original promise of depicting a woman's emotional journey was sacrificed in favor of a male-centric extravaganza.
Jawani Diwani's creators, according to Celina Jaitly, betrayed her.
"I would have told this film from the perspective of the heart, from a place of raw, real emotion, had I directed it," Celina wrote in the caption of a montage video she posted on Instagram on Tuesday of her and Emraan Hashmi's scenes from Jawani Diwani. I would have never let HER: ROMA FERNANDEZ be with someone who treated her poorly, took advantage of her, or lowered her value. In accordance with the director's tale, I would have paid respect to her voyage.
She also confessed to being "betrayed" as an actor in the film, saying, "But just like my character was betrayed in the story, I too was betrayed, as an actor. The serial kisser took over the narrative that was supposed to be about her, while the woman who was kissed and thought it was love was ignored.
Celina made it clear that her tweet was directed at the filmmakers, not at Emraan. “This is not against my amazing co-star; this is against the mentality of the makers at the time, who chose spectacle over sincerity and diluted a woman’s voice for commercial convenience,” she added.
