Fans of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) have a massive reason to celebrate! After months of eager anticipation and frustrating delays, the much-awaited sequel to the 2024 blockbuster HanuMan, titled Jai Hanuman, is finally gearing up to commence its principal photography. The film, directed by Prasanth Varma and starring the pan-Indian sensation Rishab Shetty as Lord Hanuman, is reportedly all set to go on floors in January 2026.

The Triumph of HanuMan and the Burden of Expectation

HanuMan, which arrived during the Sankranthi festival in 2024, proved to be an unexpected global phenomenon. Achieving a massive worldwide gross of nearly ₹300 crore, it became one of the year’s biggest surprise blockbusters and established the PVCU. Naturally, the sequel, Jai Hanuman, was expected to follow immediately and ride the wave of success.

However, the project faced numerous hurdles, leading to significant delays despite the initial announcement. The immense success of the first film raised the stakes exponentially, demanding a grander scale, enhanced visual effects, and a more intricate mythological narrative, all of which contributed to the extended pre-production phase.

Overcoming Delays: The Rishab Shetty Factor

One of the key reasons for the prolonged wait was the packed schedule of star Rishab Shetty, who is set to play the revered character of Lord Hanuman. Following the global success of his directorial and acting venture Kantara, Shetty has been heavily committed to its prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1.

After months of speculation and uncertainty regarding the scheduling conflicts, the team has now confirmed a major breakthrough. It is understood that Rishab Shetty has successfully allocated the necessary dates for Jai Hanuman, making it possible for the mega-project to finally move into the production stage. This commitment is a significant step forward and a huge relief for the director and the eager fan base.

Script, Scale, and the Prasanth Varma Vision

Director Prasanth Varma has reportedly utilized the extended pre-production time judiciously. Sources confirm that the entire script for Jai Hanuman has been finalized, and a substantial portion of the necessary pre-production work is now complete. This readiness means that once the cameras start rolling in January, the project can move forward swiftly and efficiently. The film is expected to wrap its shoot by June 2026.

Varma has consistently stated that Jai Hanuman will be "a hundred times bigger" than its predecessor. The sequel is envisioned as a socio-fantasy spectacle that will elevate the entire PVCU to a new, unprecedented scale, diving deeper into mythology and promising more intricate VFX sequences. While the first film centered around Teja Sajja's character, Hanumanthu, gaining powers, the sequel is expected to showcase the legendary Lord Hanuman's journey and his intervention, potentially fulfilling a promise made to Lord Rama in the Treta Yuga.
