Tanishaa Mukerji on Reality Shows and Heartbreaks: A Candid Revelation
Reality television has always promised unfiltered drama and authenticity, but actor Tanishaa Mukerji, who was a part of Bigg Boss 7, believes the picture painted on screen is far from real. In a recent interview, she opened up about her experience with reality shows, calling them “traumatic” and “heavily edited” to fit the narratives that the makers want to push. She also touched upon her personal life, candidly reflecting on her past relationships with Uday Chopra and Armaan Kohli, and revealing which one affected her more deeply.
“Reality Shows Show What They Want”
Tanishaa did not hold back when speaking about how reality shows function. According to her, participants often lose control over how they are represented. The final episodes, she said, are less about raw reality and more about carefully cut edits. “Sirf jo unko chahiye, wo aapko dikha rahe hain,” she explained, pointing out that showrunners project contestants in ways that appeal to audiences, even if it shapes their personalities into characters that don’t align with their real selves.
She described this process as a form of trauma bonding. Contestants are constantly monitored, placed in high-pressure situations, and forced to interact under watchful eyes, which eventually takes a toll on their mental health. Tanishaa admitted that while she personally did not struggle much with the public’s reactions, she understood how this framework could be damaging for many. “Log aapko ussi nazariye se dekhte hain jo unhone dekha. Uss image se bahar nikalna mushkil ho jaata hai,” she added.
Living Under Labels
The actor pointed out that once a label is attached to a contestant, it tends to stick even after the show ends. The challenge, she said, is to move beyond the “image” projected on television and show people the reality of who you are. This makes life after a reality show difficult, especially for those in the entertainment industry, where public perception can directly affect work opportunities.
Tanishaa herself entered the show with the idea of exploring challenges and experiences. While she chose to view the journey as an experiment, she acknowledged that not everyone is able to handle the long-term consequences of being projected in a certain light.
Heartbreaks and Personal Confessions
Shifting from her professional experiences to her personal life, Tanishaa also spoke about her past relationships. She revealed that although her romance with Armaan Kohli made headlines during Bigg Boss 7, it was her breakup with Uday Chopra that left her truly heartbroken.
Calling her split with Armaan “not much of a heartbreak,” she explained that her equation with Uday Chopra was longer, deeper, and built on friendship. “We were friends, we were very close, and we had known each other for a long time,” she reflected, admitting that this emotional depth made their separation all the more difficult.
Honest and Fearless
Tanishaa Mukerji’s candid revelations shed light on two very different facets of her life—her professional encounters with the manipulative side of reality television and her deeply personal journey through love and heartbreak. Her openness is a reminder that what audiences see on screen is often far removed from the actual experiences of those involved.
