Bha Bha Ba Star Dileep Admits Challenges in Making Big Films Today—Here’s Why
5 months ago | 5 Views
Dileep, a Malayalam performer who is a suspect in the case involving the kidnapping and assault of an actress, is getting ready for a major release this year with Bha Bha Ba, the film directed by newcomer Dhananjay Shankar, which stars Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan in supporting roles.
The actor's most recent smash was Prince and Family, which is now available on ZEE5 through OTTplay Premium. The big-budget Bandra, which starred Tamannaah Bhatia and Dino Morea, was just one of a string of failures that preceded this.
The reason why huge movies are a double-edged weapon, according to Dileep
Dileep informs OTTplay in an exclusive interview that "People go to theaters to see my film just for fun." Twenty-20 would have earned over Rs 150 Cr if we had released it now. Even if the price of a theater ticket at the time was between Rs 20 and 30, it was still the first Malayalam movie to gross more than Rs 10 crore. What I'm saying is that nowadays, when a movie is a hit, the box office numbers are massive, and when it fails, it simply bombs without leaving any evidence. There isn't a middle course available. The past ten years have shown me that disparity.
When Dileep is asked if the fact that his films have not been successful over the last five years has made him and his producers wary about casting him for big projects, Dileep responds, "As far as I am concerned, it's difficult for me to make a big film work. Others might find it simpler. A big canvas and a serious movie always leave you wondering what the final product will look like. If not, the material must be compelling. There is a good probability that the Malayali audience will identify with the film if it centers on a family and their emotions.

Dileep on Bha Bha Ba
Nonetheless, Dileep describes his forthcoming film Bha Bha Ba as a "big movie." “I have been fortunate enough to have the support of big production houses backing my films. Bha Bha Ba will probably be out after Onam, he says, adding that he will also spend more time on screen with Dhyan than in Prince and Family.
"In movies like Ramaleela and Kammarasambhavam, I have played characters with negative shades," Dileep says, highlighting the example of other veteran actors like Mammootty who are now breaking out of their comfort zone. Filmmakers are picturing me in roles that I have never performed, even in the stories I have heard recently. As a result, I'm hoping I get the opportunity to play more of these kinds of characters.
