The captivating legal crime drama Criminal Justice has made its return with a fourth season, once again showcasing Pankaj Tripathi in his renowned role as lawyer Madhav Mishra. This season, the narrative centers around a complicated murder case within a distressed family, offering three contradictory accounts of the truth.

Joining the cast are Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, and Asha Negi, each portraying crucial roles in this intense and emotionally rich storyline.

In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Asha Negi discussed her involvement in the successful franchise. She portrays Roshni Saluja, the girlfriend of Zeeshan, who becomes a murder victim. Asha shared her thoughts on her limited screen presence in the series and the reasons behind her decision to accept the role despite this.

Asha Negi discusses her desire to explore diverse roles

Asha expressed that it was the storyline and the essence of her character that attracted her, stating, "for a long time, people have seen me in roles as the girl next door and similar characters. I genuinely want to explore and undertake something different. When this show was presented to me, we all recognize its excellence; the character, although having limited screen time, possesses significant depth. It has numerous layers, and it was quite challenging to portray this."

Asha Negi on the challenging part about playing Roshni Saluja

She elaborated on the most challenging elements of bringing Roshni to life, stating, “Most days were quite demanding because when you are acting alongside performers like Zeeshan Ayub, I had numerous scenes with him, and he is an exceptional actor. Therefore, when you are in scenes with someone of his caliber, you must prepare thoroughly and deliver your best performance, correct? You cannot simply perform any way and expect to succeed. Thus, most days were indeed quite challenging, and the majority of the scenes I engaged in were difficult, which is remarkable because it also encourages you to push your limits as an actor and facilitates significant learning and growth.”

Asha confessed that she initially had reservations about taking on the role, saying, “I was uncertain because my character ultimately dies, so what will happen to her? However, I was encouraged to read the screenplay and character description, and I thought perhaps, yes, the screen time is limited, but there are moments when the character makes a significant impact. It is one of the most beautifully crafted characters. It was also quite challenging; I felt unsure if I could manage it, as it appeared difficult to me. Nevertheless, I gave it everything I had.”

She also mentioned that feeling nervous is a common aspect of every project she undertakes, adding, “I always experience nervousness before embarking on a new project. I have sleepless nights when I am about to begin a new endeavor. So, even this time, I felt anxious. However, it was incredibly enjoyable; you also witness your development and how much you have learned.”

Regarding Criminal Justice 4, Criminal Justice 4: A Family Matter debuted on JioHotstar on May 29. Yet, only three episodes have been released to date, leaving many fans feeling let down.
